Asia Chapter Meeting at ICED 2015
Chapter meeting was held at ICED 2015 to share goals and objectives of the Chapter with a broader community exploiting ICED. Interests to join the Chapter from those from Australia have been presented to result in a new member of the Steering Committee from Australia.
Asia Design Engineering Workshop (A-DEWS) 2015
Asia Design Engineering Workshop (A-DEWS) 2015 was held on Oct. 29-30, 2015, at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. A-DEWS 2015 was chaired by Cees de Bont. 120 participants attended A-DEWS 2015, including 17 Student Challenge participants. Participants include not only those from Asia but also those from Europe. 34 contributed papers as well as 4 keynote speeches were presented. Student Challenge of A-DEWS 2015: Special for young people
7 student teams (both undergraduate and graduate) submitted their design projects on the theme of Asian Food and they competed at the Workshop with posters and demonstrations so that interactive evaluation was made. Judging committee composed of 4 invited experts, including the chief chef of a premium hotel in Hong Kong, evaluated student submission.
Asia Design Engineering Workshop (A-DEWS) 2014
As the first official event of the Chapter, Asia Design Engineering Workshop (A-DEWS) 2014 was held on Nov. 20 – 21, 2014, in Taipei, Taiwan. A-DEWS 2014 was chaired by Rungtai Lin and Chih-Hsing Chu. Overall 103 participants attended A-DEWS 2014, including 56 IDC participants. Regional distributions: Taiwan 52, Korea 23, Japan 18, Hong Kong 2, Malaysia 6, Thailand 1. 42 contributed papers as well as 2 keynote speeches and 4 invited speeches were presented.
Innovative Design Competition (IDC) of A-DEWS 2014: Special for young people
Student teams (both undergraduate and graduate) submitted their design projects beforehand in terms of project reports and they competed at the Workshop with posters and demonstrations so that interactive evaluation was made. This format allowed rich interaction between students and other participants of the workshop. 26 teams participated and 5 awards were given.
